Our Present
The Baptist Church at Hanbury Hill is an active and committed fellowship who love the Lord Jesus Christ and seek to honour His name in all we do. This is exemplified through our Mission Statement: 'Committed to loving, serving and sharing Jesus' - we have around 80 members, and in recent years we have welcomed a number of new members - God has been so good to us this last couple of years, firstly during the short time we were without a Minister and now more recently since the arrival of our new Minister, Reverend Andy Scott.
Our fellowship spans the age range from 0 to 'quite old' and we are blessed with large numbers of children through our youth and brigade work and our weekly Sunday School, otherwise known as S.O.S. Something On Sunday! Our friendly fellowship offers a really warm welcome to all visitors. Like the town of Stourbridge, our church offers a real mix of marvelous folks - many professionals, teachers, others in full time employment in a range of work, some retired, some full time mothers, - all members seeking to love, share and serve Jesus Christ in so many ways within our church and our community.
Our Past
- The first Baptists in the area met up on Brettell Lane...
- Later, some of them came to Stourbridge.
- A group formed in 1829...
- They looked for land to build a place of worship and found it here.
- This church was completed in 1836.
- A total of 7 people formed the membership!
